This photo of an outdoor umbrella installation was taken in London by a friend who recently returned from a few weeks wandering around Europe.
I’m not one for gazing at paintings in a museum. Art is something to be experienced by more than one of your five senses. That’s why I love dance and music. However, I find installation art fascinating. Since it’s usually out in the wild vs. contained in a picture frame or glass case, I feel that touches at least three senses and thus is a better experience. (sight of the installation, sound of the environment around you, touch of the breeze on your skin or the art itself if they let you touch, perhaps even smell of what’s around you)
I was curious as to why the number 4 was chosen for this installation and learned that this was the work of Channel 4 in London. This must have been right outside the Channel 4 building.
